Lucia
|
Lucia was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. When she was growing up there, Toronto didn't house many young Asian female dancers and she was one of the few in the community to become an active performer.
Lucia began performing at the age of 4. She started with recitals at her dance schools and continued to showcase her talent at Toronto's prestigious concert venues that included Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.
Having attended The National Ballet School, The Xing Ballet & Chinese Dance School, Baythorn School of Arts, and Unionville High School of the Arts, she exposed herself to other performance genres such as singing, instrumental and acting. In 1999 and at just 17 years old, Lucia juggled school with starting her own youth dance company, The Kaiyotes Dance Inc. She graduated with honours and moved on to teaching, performing and choreographing dance as a professional while pursuing a marketing degree at university.
Soon after university, Lucia started producing, teaching, performing and competing in dance, and acting in commercials and small films. She toured the world winning many dance awards and even got to be in the Hollywood film Take the Lead with Antonio Banderas.
Lucia believes that versatility is the mark of a true dancer. Thus, her repertoire includes Jazz Funk, Ballroom, Lyrical, Modern Contemporary, Theatre and Jazz.
