The hot-blooded energy of participants and instructors alike was unleashed bright and early Saturday morning with Andrés, Meech, Megan and Xiomara teaching BODYPUMP 74. It may have been the fiercest release yet with booming tempos and some killer supersets. Quick transitions and the shortest recoveries in the history of BODYPUMP brought a new intensity level to the programme.
The adrenaline continued to soar with BODYCOMBAT 44 - an exhilarating release that incorporated level changes, a tough balance challenge and moves inspired by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Just when they thought the sweating was over...... a 7.5-minute power track provided the ferocious finale.
Calm and serenity returned to the studio during the 15-minute break before the next class - a wonderful lead-in to the gentle, uplifting music of BODYBALANCE 49 with Juan and Xiomara. But with RPM 47 rounding off Saturday's launch at Two ifc, it was sweating and burning all the way. Everyone had pitched in to move the bikes into the main studio, bringing a different vibe and feel to the workout. Adrian, Beth and David extended the class with a couple of old tracks and then right into the new track 2 "Waking Up in Vegas" with its mixed terrain workout and resistance changes. Bring on the 3 P's - push, pace and position!
Sunday's launch at Langham Place held as much raw power and energy as the day before with a new team of instructors for BODYCOMBAT (Adrian, Belinda, Kelvin, Luis) and BODYPUMP (Annette, Beth, Kelvin, Luis). Led by Andrés, Brad and Juan, BODYATTACK 69 had quick take-offs, short bursts of sprints, speed & agility drills and plyometric lunges jammed into 55 minutes of mad cardio and sweating.
On to celebrating 20 years of BODYSTEP with sing-along 80s re-mixes and fond memories of leg warmers, fluorescents and towelling head bands. It was a fun, cheeky but athletic workout that really got the stepping muscles pumping. As the day's grand finale, BODYJAM 53 saw the re-appearance of Andrés and Brad - and the start of an insane party! With the superb mix of music that ranged from passionate Latino to cheesy Disco Twenty Ten to posh tunes by The Freemasons, it was the coolest and hippest way to end a workout weekend. |
